today I had to go home from work after being really tearful for no reason.

Its been a fraught year ( hubby disabled and in a wheelchair, then he was made unemployed, he's not coping well with it all) and i thought I was holding it altogether ok

so after looking on the net i went to the local herbal shop and bought st johns wort to get me over this sad/ fed up weepy phase.

anyone have any expereince on using it? how long does it take to feel better, not life changing (coz its not going to) just feel better

St John's Wort takes 4 to 6 weeks to have an effect, much the same as prescription anti-depressants.

Make sure it will be safe for you - not everybody can take it
I am so sorry you are having a bad time.

St John's wort can help, 4/6 weeks as Ethel said , but please if you are on other medication check that it is O.k to take, health shop will know or on the internet.

Sincere good wishes.
Yeah agreed. As with conventional prescription stuff, it takes a while to kick in.

I've tried both. By all means go herbal if that's all you want to try, but no shame in seeing the doctor too.
