I have a 15 year old miniture yorkshire terrier and recently he has been pooing blood, he is also deaf, blind, wets his bed and has generally gone really dirty, he does not appear to be in pain but there is something really wrong with him, i don't want to have him put down but if i take him to the vets and they say that is what must happen, what sort of price am i looking at. Thanks in advance

well think it could be at least 50 possibly more!!!
Just so you know my cat sometimes poos/wees blood and have taken him to the vet many times, and never can say whats wrong with him!

It will go on for about a week, then will stop. They always just give him some anti-biotics, but then he's fine.
They normally charge about 35 for vets time and pills. He is 18 now and still going strong.
The vet normally says to us if he is off his food then thats when know something is wrong.

If he isn't in pain then can't imagine they would just put him down, perhaps try course on anti-biotics first.
Is he still eating?
If this dog has given you fifteen years of love and companionship then I think you at least owe it to him to take him to the vet no matter what the cost. My main criteria for whether a dog has a suitable quality of life is that it can still go out to the toilet on its own. I think you know what I am trying to say.
Take your dog to the vets and listen to his advice. My beloved dog had to be put to sleep in january it was the hardest decision i have ever made but i know it was the right one. only you know what your dogs quality of life is and if he is incontinent blind and deaf do you think he is still happy? he may not be in pain but he is probably very uncomfortable. my vet was wonderful and supportive.
