Hi all.... We have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now and still no luck!!!!!!!!!!!!! have been for my hystro (think thats what its called - where your womb is xrayed using a dye) it showed that one of my tubes was blocked but had been freed by the dye. I have a regular period but always have a week of old black blood before actual period so it is lasting for amost 2 weeks! I am due to go in for a D&C in a few weeks time but am unsure if this is actually going to increase our chances of getting pregnant or if this is just being done because i happened to mention it to the doctor... TIA

Hi, like you I had been trying for almost two years when I had a laparoscopy and the dye thingy as well. I was also told that I had one partially blocked tube, but that the dye had managed to get through it. Prior to this, I had like you partial bleeds - well just bits of old blood in between periods, and an irregular cycle. I was not recommended to have a D&C, but I did get pregnant shortly after having the laparoscopy etc. I pretty much got pregnant the month after the consultant gave us the all clear, so I think by that point stress was also a factor.

I hope it all goes well for you, as it did for me - I now have two boys (age 7 and 6) 13 months apart, as we took advantage of the fertile period after you have a baby.

Prof Winstone says that you need to be at it like rabbits! Forget about ovulation etc, etc. Every other day throughout the month so that there are always healthy sperm around whenever an egg is released because it only survives for 24 hrs whereas the sperm is healthy for 2-3 days. The eggs can come at any time not just at the usual 'ovulation' time (approx. 12-14 days after start of period). Good luck!
Had to smile at that one beanebabe! If you've been trying for 2 years and can still be at it like rabbits then I'd say well done!

A good old clear out can't do any harm. Good luck 6758, hope you get sprogged up soon. ;-)
When we went for a consultation with the fertility specialist and he asked us how often we were "trying" , we said "about 15 or 16 times" "a month?" he asked, no we replied "a week". He nearly fell of his chair and suggested there is such a thing as trying too much!
I had the dye done in January and have not seen another period (11 weeks pregnant now). And i think thats the case for many women. Has your partner had his sperm checked ? Also like the other people said, you do need to be having intercourse at least every 2-3 days. GOOD LUCK

Had my dye done in January aswell but still nothing!!!!!!!!! am getting so depressed! He has had tests done and all were fine untill the last one which was on the low side of normal but we are hoping this was down to a really bad flu he had about a month ago... We have been at it like rabits as beanebabe suggested... every other day for 2 years( it is becoming such a chore ha ha ha!!) I think we are doing everything we can but was just wondering if this D&C was maybe going to make it more likely for an egg to implant? XXX
What else are you doing to find the cause? Infertility can be on either the man or the woman and in some cases it could be both.
