Can you take your own food to Alton Towers?

No idea where this question should go so it's going here. Can you take your own food into Alton Towers? Or would they just tell you to put it in the bin? You can't really sneak it in can you seeing as they check bags and stuff upon entry..

We used to take school trips there - about 5 years ago - and we always took packed lunches with no problem. I suppose things might have changed.

we always take a packed lunch. There are plenty of places provided where you can eat it.
Either that or take out a small loan!
