Message in a bottle

has anyone ever launched a message in a bottle and had a reply ?
if so, how long did you wait fot a reply and how far did the bottle travel ?
me and my lot launched a tiny bottle in January this year. the thing is, i dont ever expect to get a reply. our bottle was dropped into the Atlantic Ocean mid way between Morocco and the island of Madiera.

No I never have, and I often wonder how many people go along chacking bottles on beaches for notes inside them.

Hi Funky, I did this as a kid holidaying in Wales.
Of course I never got a reply - I posted my name and address and asked for the finder to write to me (hey it was the 80s, a lot safer back then!) and I have since lost all faith in the bottle method :(

My son threw a message in a bottle into the sea at Scarborough in February 1995 when he was 7. Three months later we got a letter from a school in Waring in Germany. A group of children found it in a rock pool ! We corresponded by letter for about a year and the teacher visited us when she came to England on holiday and brought my son loads of nice presents.
A few years later he threw another one in the sea and a few months later got a letter from the Netherlands.
The letter was from a couple who went into detail about how their kids had been taken away from them so needless to say we didn't bother replying !!

Back in the 90's I was in Dorset and found a bottle with a message in it. I rang the number on the paper and it was a 10 year old boy from Nottingham. He was thrilled that someone had found it.

Sting did this . He spent years replying to the hundred million bottles he found washed upon the shore !!

hi funkymoped, i think i found your bottle. Im just in the process of replying to you now, might take me a while, i have a few others i have to answer first! You lot throwing your messages in bottles, dont realise how time consuming it is for us "finders" having to reply all the time.

ok, not quite a message in a bottle story, but we released a helium birthday balloon into the sky here in the midlands once, with our details attached to it, and a week or so later we had a reply, it was found by some school children in a forest in germany. it was great hearing back.
