Is this a proper noun? In the phrase 'what a load of baloney' should I capitalise it?

It was thought to be from 'Bologna sausage', which - as a city name - would of course have required a capital 'B'. However, it is now used to mean 'nonsense', particularly in American English usage, so no capital is required. I guess 'hamburger' fits the same pattern.

It could be a corruption of "polony". I rmember having this for tea when I was a kid. Disgusting or not, I loved it.
