Hey people, I had yet another business trip, this time in sunny Sheffield. Stayed in the lovely Premier Inn Barnsley/Sheffield. I was quite impressed, especially as I didn't pay a dime for it.

What do you think of these Travel Lodge type places?

I use them whenever I go away (except on a 'proper' holiday) and have yet to be disappointed.

And..........if there is some reason that you are disatisfied, they are quite happy to make a refund !!!

I agree, they are not good for holiday but for business meetings and one off nights out then they are perfect and well priced too.

My view was of a car park and a petrol station. So idilic
I shall probably be staying in one later this week/ early next week. I know what I'm getting and it takes all the fretting out of a trip. I only use them as a base for whichever area I need to be in and the view rarely matters..........
WE used to use travelodge and premier inns a lot until we discovered Innkeepers. They are now springing up all over and are fantastic as they are more individual than travel lodge as they have taken over some hotels. The prices are great too. We have just spent 3 nights for 2 people down near Reading, including continental breakfast for 79.95 !
Some relatives stayed in a nearby B&B and paid 25 pp per night. Only difference cooked brekkie which we dont like anyway.
Look them up
Cheers, burston..............

That gives me food for thought, as that is precisely the area which I need to be in.............:o)
I love them, last time I stayed in one, I left glasto a day before everyone else, travelled bout 5 mins down road and stayed in one. Ahhhh just to have a bath, bliss
i use premier inn wherever i can, and probably 3 times a year.

Innkeepers can be cheap in some areas and if booked in advance but ive not been able to find one at a better rate when ive looked.

i used to work at the travel inn, and a lot of the time when people left they never changed the sheets or quilt covers, it was a well known fact
just keep your eyes out for hairs lol
Barnsley, my home!!

If we're just having an odd night away they're ideal, cheap and cheerful and clean. As long as you've somewhere to wash and sleep it doesn't matter.
Great for business.

I lived in the London Hampstead one for a few months when I was living and working in central London in the week and commuting back to Manchester for the weekends.

It was great, the staff were so lovely and friendly.
I have stayed at the Premier Inn, Trentham Gardens,S-O-T and it was very clean the rooms are large, the food good it cost 53 per room and breakfast 7.50 each extra. I would never stay at a Travel Lodge and I can well believe cazz's story of hairs in the bed, yuk!! I often stay at The Holiday Inn chain and Reading-South is excellent. The staff (mostly Polish) are lovely, the rooms are comfortable and clean and the cooked breakfast are really good, you can eat as much as you want or continental if you prefer with masses of fruit, smorgasbord, muffins etc. You can use the Gym and large swimming pool as well. If you stay Thurs, Fri, Sat or Sunday it cost 49 per room and that includes breakfast. If you have children you still only pay the 49 an absolute bargain and it's near Legoland for the kids and shopping at The Oracle for Mum.
