ipod to computer software

i recently lost my itunes music library and have been looking at software which you download from the internet which allows you to copy the music on your ipod back to you computer. Which program should i download and are they safe?

yamipod and ephpod are both good and free.

Just make sure you use it before using iTunes again with the iPod connected.
