I have recently been given a meditating buddha statue and wondered if there is some ritual about where you are allowed to place them within your home?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

How about the wheelie bin?
. . . or on a Bible
Our chippy has got a budha in the window, so maybe that's where they go, to welcome visistors
A Buddhist friend I know says that for luck and good fortune you should place you Buddha facing north
Our chippy faces the dry cleaners, where the sun shines, so its facing south but the chinese bloke could always turn it back to front

It's idolatory.
That's rubbish.
It's only 'idolatory' if you have sex with it.
hi mrs nolan i am going to buy a buddha this week would you believe after seeing one in the shop that i fell in love with. i firmly believe that they bring good luck and will be putting mine in my unit for all to see in the living room.
mib, That's good. You do make me laugh.
I dated a strange (but gorgeous) woman last year who had loads of buddha ornaments. She had them all high up on shelves (because buddha has to be higher than us mortals). She faced them into the centre of the room to concentrate the good luck force...blah...blah...blah...mind you she could suck a tangerine through a ten foot hosepipe so I wasn't complaining.
up your a--- for starters
Mrs. K, I regret this thread has gone so far south on you and apologize for anything I have contributed that might have swayed it in that direction. The world might be a better safer place to live if more of the other religions (and certain people) shared the Buddha's sense of humour.
Mib, yes, absolutely!!

i agree - and perhaps people that can only contribute in a negative manner should not bother in the future!!!

Thank you to all that have given sensible answers.
