do you have to have so long left on your mot certificate before you can get your tax or does it not matter as lond as it is still valid.
the tax runs out on 31st august and mot on 3rd september can i still get my tax on the 31st???

yes, you just need a current MOT certificate. you can apply for your tax online now, much less hassle.

thanks sara, i was told that you have to have at least 3 months left on your mot to be able to get your tax.
I believe that the MoT just needs to be valid on the date which the licence runs from i.e. 1st September in your case, so you�d be OK.
You can apply for your VEL, on line is easiest, as long as your MOT and Insurance are in date. If you are concerned you can also have your MOT carried out up to 1 month before the it expires and have it post dated to the due date, ie, any time after 3 August and dated 3 September. JD
