Hi, I am using the only accoun on this computer, which is obviously an admin account, however, I cannot change any file attributes whatsoever, it keeps saying I need admin permission... So I click OK and it brings a little window up saying how long its going to take ect, then when its done, I right click on the file and properties and the readonly status is back!!

It's really doing my head in as I can't figure out why its doing this.
Does anyone know how I can make it so I can change the read only status of my files?

Whats NTFS and FAT32?
NTFS or FAT32. My Computer-Select C drive_Right click_In the Information Box it will state one or the other.
Can you let me know.

The reason I ask is that NTFS offers increased security by adding extra attributes to every file and folder in addition to the attributes used in FAT (hidden, read-only, system, and archive). With NTFS, you are able to grant or deny other users permission to access, modify, or delete specific files

I presume you want to change from read Only in order to change the files.
Although this may seem odd Try Copying them and changing the attributes on the copy and report back will you.
I also wanted to know if the check mark in the file attribute box was showing as light grey or black. ?
There are 3 states Unchecked, Grey Check Mark, Black Check Mark.
Oddly, i seem to rember, the grey check mark can indicate it is not read only in some circumstances.
