At home I have a PC that is connected to the internet with AOL 9.0VR and a Thomson wireless router.

I have a work laptop and I want to access the internet via the wireless router. Airport dosen't detect any wireless connections.

Can I use it to connect to the internet?

Yes. What version of Mac OS X?

Also, is the wireless router's SSID hidden? On the Mac click 'other' when it tries to find wireless signals, and enter the wireless network name and password manually.

My version is 10.4.11.

How do I find the SSID?
That would be to do with your router, so I don't know that I'm afraid.
