My upright cleaner is just about had it now and because most of my downstairs is laminate flooring, I'm thinking of getting a dyson cylinder. I've never had a cylinder cleaner before and I wondered how good they are. Has anybody got one and how do they compare with an upright?

I didn't like my upright because of the Hepa Cartridge Type filter that was awkward and very messy to clean. I now have a cylinder type with disposable bags, but there's no revolving carpet brush like the upright. It's retractable brushes are O.K. on a hard floor, but difficult to push to and fro over a carpet, so are better retracted. Nevertheless I prefer it of the two. It easier to get round and under furniture without having to move everything around. Hope this helps.
Don't spend money on a Dyson. get a Vax instead. They come with a 10 YEAR guarantee, are easy to empty and clean - and work! x

Thanks for the advice coldicote and ice.maiden. I've got a vax upright at the moment, and it's been pretty good, so I might look into the vax cylinder. Think I'd better get me down to the shops to have a look round.
My wife swears blind that the Dyson we have is brilliant but if I make a mess in the house I always get the Henry out of the van and use that instead, Dyson's are so over rated.....
I have the Dyson Animal ( the one with the rotating head) and find it's the best vacuum I've ever had (we have a very hairy dog) However, my neice has just bought the Henry with the rotating head and it's brilliant.

Thanks for the replies. I've just been and bought a dyson stowaway- so I'll see how I get on with it.
