Hi,

Does anyone know where the knut is to tighten a auxiliary belt on my Peugeot 206?

The belt keeps making a screeching sound, i've been told that the belt needs tightened - although I've just had this  belt replaced.

thanks

Peugeot usually use a multi v groove belt. These squeal badly if not tensioned correctly, they also require re tensioning about 1000 miles after fitting because they give slightly once they are first used. There is no 'knut' as you put it. You usually have to slacken of the alternator securing bracket 'nuts' and tension the belt by pulling on the alternator whilst retightening the nuts. It's straightforward enough if you know what you are doing. If you are not sure what you are doing you can overtension the belt quite easily. This could ultimately knacker your alternator/air con compressor/power steering pump etc by collapsing their bearings. I doubt if the person who fitted it would charge much, if at all, to reset the tension for you.
