Hi, We're looking to book a last minute holiday to have a week in the sun. Can anyone recommend a particular island & resort please? We're looking for somewhere fairly quiet(ish), with beach close by, a few bars and restaurants but nothing too busy and 18-30, if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance.

You could try Rhodes. Lindos and Pevkos are fairly quiet. There's a decent beach and it's far enough from Faliraki. The capital town is very nice, lots of history, good shopping, etc.
I'd recommend Paros , has a bit of everything .. Plenty of bars & nightlife in Parakia (the main port) & some nice clubs in Naussau . Beautiful old towns like Lefkes . Some really good beaches , wind-surfing if you're into it. I'd be there myself if I had the money
Im with Billysugger on this one in Parakia you can choose between lively bars/clubs or a quiet, out of the way taverna/bar, with loads of good beaches to choose from.

I dont think there are any direct flights from the UK to Paros, of the few tour operators taking clients there, the preferred route is via Mykonos and ferry.

Rather than book a package, my advice is buy a return flight to Athens take the bus to the port and catch the ferry to Paros (ferry transit time circa 5 hours normally around 4 per day). Once you get off the boat in Parakia, there will be hoards of people touting for you to stay in their rooms (at very reasonable rates).
Kalamaki on Zante was perfect for us - not too busy beach, a lovely restaurant very close by and the shops and restuarants on the main street were good. No mad folk to annoy you!
Crete or Kos ? your spoilt for choice, Santorini is nice too.
Rhodes too commercial.
I,m with Monty on that one Kalamaki in Zante. Once you,ve been you will keep returning
Hmmm, i went to Rhodes last year. I stayed in a place called Archangelos.
It was very quiet, so whilst there i went up to rhodes town which was over the top(especially faliraki). But went to Lindos too which was great. Its a nice island and i think a lot more 'cleaner and better sanitary conditions' than other parts of greece i have been to.
You can get from one end of the isalnd to the other in literally 30 mins (on a scooter).
There are loads of decent beaches there, and i didnt once see no beach which was crap.
People are nice, but a little too laid back for me.
If you've never been before i have a few pics.
