Does anyone find it sad that Australia donated 40 million dollars to the Tsunami victims in Asia while Canada, one of the richests countries, only donates a lousy two million?

I am CANADIAN!

And I don't like the way our government handled the situation! We were supposed to send in a Dart team, which is a rescue team. I don't know if it's called dart, I can't remember, but the person in charge of dispatching them was on vacation. Something Pettigrew, I can't remember his name eaither, but he said that he wanted Canada to wait until he got back from vacation!

Come on now!

I am not going to defend the actions of any government official since I don't know the details of their day-to-day activities or their decision-making process. I think they waited too long, too, but given all the obstacles to deal with (everyone on holiday, no one knowing just _how_ bad things were until several days after the event, difficulty recruiting large enough planes, etc.) I'm willing to chalk it up to bureaucratic inefficiency or a gene for excessive planning.

You don't seem too keen on reading, because you seemed to have missed my point that the DART team has already arrived in Sri Lanka.

By reading a Canadian news agency, you would've discovered that Pettigrew gave a press conference in Ottawa on the 30th Dec, but the DART team left Canada yesterday. Clearly, other things were going on in the interim that had nothing to do with Pettigrew asking them to wait until his vacation was over.

You seem so quick to criticise, but you don't seem to have any solid facts to back up your opinion. You allege that Someone said Something but you don't have any sources or any direct quotes. Do you actually _know_ what it takes to get a DART team mobilised?

I'm just asking that you do a little research (from verifiable sources) before you post angry condemnations of the actions of people WHO ARE ACTUALLY _DOING_ SOMETHING TO HELP. It may seem too little, too late in your opinion, but what have you been doing to help the survivors in the region?

These people are doing the best they can with what they've got. Please don't assume they don't care.

It's easy for all of us to armchair quarterback, though, isn't it?

Canada's pledge is $40 million.  After Canada increased their pledge, the US, which has 10 times Canada's population, increased their pledge to $380 million.
That is stupid canada should give more to help but australia i guess is willing to give that much

in reply to smudge, the US has donated like, 300 million.

Besides, it's the fact that they are donating that counts. Not how much they donate.

Well first off that is not true, right now Canada has donated more than 1 billion dollars and one man who own MusicWorld donated an additional million dollars and school and other businesses have donated about 300 million dollars!!!!
