I`ve been having trouble with my pc starting,i have to switch off the power then on again b4 it will start, sometimes 2 or 3 times.Yesterday when i tried to start it up it asked me for the cd,which it has never done b4,so i restarted pressed f8 and selected boot from hdd.all seemed ok until the desktop came on,it froze, and the pc started making some very funny noises.I was taking it to the menders to have the power switch changed,as i`ve been told that was the problem, but what could the funny noises be?,and could i be looking at an expensive fix or new pc.Any help or advice gratefully appreciated.

Do you get any error messages on screen when it doesn't start.
If it's a clicking/clunking noise or loud rumble it sounds as if the hard drive may be on the way out.

Nope, if it's dying, it will die! If you can get the machine working, take a backup right away.
