Resetting service indicator on Rover 75

Mr H just done service on our 2001 Rover 75 - does anyone know how to reset the service indicator please?

you either buy a service light reseter (check the blurb and make sure it will work with your car, it needs to be OBD2 Compliant) If you are unsure just look under the dash, rh side by door and you'll see the diagnostics plug - count the pins. There should be 16, in two rows of 8.

Or you short out two of the pins (4 and 8) on the above connector and turn the ignition to pos 2, for a little while of course this would be done entirely at your own risk and shorting things out can be very very bad if you get it wrong!! (new ECU is gonna be expensive if it gets blown up.. I wouldn't risk doing it this way)

or you take it to a garage and ask how much they will charge you to do it

Thanks Chuck - I think the first or last options are the better - I couldn't stand the language if he gets the shorting option wrong!
