i was wondering if anyone can offer a suggestion on how to stop the fox/es from coming into my garden.

we have a 6FT fence round the whole garden - with no holes in - so i don't even know how they get in!!?!?!
they seem to come in almost every night and bring things like shoes, socks, empty tins, remains of birds etc. they also dig up anything i plant and chew up anything left out. as i have a 2yr old i would like to stop the fox from being in the garden, at all.
i have tried to ask the council for a solution but they have only sent me out information on living with foxes.

i will appreciate your help very much.

Dont you have a room?
I mean who foxs in their garden its a bit pervrrted innit ?
Presuming you have no holes under the fence anywhere (foxes have been known to hide this with loose vegetation) they will have to be coming over the top. Look for tree branches anywhere near the fence and on the other side.
Foxes are pretty agile and commonly climb trees to get at birds/nestlings so a 6' fence is nothing to them. Borrow someone's big dog for the night and keep it in the yard, that should deter them for a while.
For a permanent solution an electric wire or extra fencing at an angle above the 6' will slow them down. Check your local by-laws, you may need council permit to go above 6'
A friend of mine got one of the ultrasonic deterrants to deter foxes etc......I was sceptical, but apparently it works.
Or you could ask Melanie if you can borrow her two Jack Russells........

thanks for your answers :)
i have checked and there are definately no holes at all along the boarder... but the neighbours shed backs onto our shed so i think that the fox must be getting up and over there and that same route to get out, wildwood - i had no idea they could jump/climb that high!
will check online where i can get a ultrasonic detterant, jules77, cause i don't want to harm the fox but also don't want it in my garden, so i'll tyr this solution first... if it doesn't help we'll try the dogs :)
thanks again everyone, can't wait to see if it works for my fox.

Get lots of human hair from the hairdresser and sprinkle it round your border...seemingly they dont like the smell
We had problems with foxes in our garden and we found a company called Foxolutions at www.foxolutions.co.uk They have a site where you can get all manner of humane fox deterrents. We bought some repellent and a water sprayer called a scarecrow which was brilliant. We havent been bothered by foxes at all since then. Good luck!
