Am about to buy a widescreen TV, what's better a pureflat screen or just a normal widescreen? They're both Sony, but not sure what the difference is??

We have a Sony KV-32LS60B (the "B" might mean Belgium).  It is a flat screen and is fine.

I think that you tend to get less reflection from objects in the room with a flat screen.  It also looks "more modern".

A flat screen is just that: the front of the screen is a flat sheet of glass.  A "normal" screen is convex.

also i dont think those flat screens have any cathode ray tubes..

janelle_ire, you're thinking of plasma screens and the like (BIG money!).  Our flatscreen TV has a CRT and weighs a ton!

i would say a flat screen is better, i have a panasonic viera plasma and the picture quality is great. on a widescreen tv there is a slight distortion with the picture.

Well, we have a plasma (or LCD). I don't know what exactly the difference is but it /is/ better picture quality than normal big fat TV's.
