if great britain had continued to charge the rates in the stamp & townshend acts then 1.few american merchants could have avoided bankruptcy, 2. british merchants would have suffered even more from the boycott, 3. the proclamation line would have been even harder to cross, 4. george washington would never have taken part in the revolution
