laptop won;t turn on

well windows XP won;t load, it goes to the screen asking if u want to start in safe mode etc or last known good config, but whichever i go for windows still won;t load. It's a mystery as it was fine last night when i logged off, any advice on the problem please? it just keeps trying to restart

If it won't start in safe mode the only thing you can really do is insert the original windows disk and boot the laptop from that (may have to hit f12 or similar at startup) and then try repairing the current windows install. if there is anything on the laptop you need keeping then doing a repair should not effect this and all setting etc should be kept.

thanks for that, it is doing something else now, it goes to a square blue screen and asks me what i want to do, but I havn't a clue what to do!!! lol the notebook disc is in the drive is that the one you mean?
