I wand to remove entries that are no longer used from a Name Box - the one that has a drop down box if entries in there. How do I do it? The does not seem to be any help available for this.

RU talking about a dropdown list in a cell that has several options available when you click on the down arrow ??

Yes, it's on the extreme left hand side of the toolbar area. If you open a new Excel document it will drop down when you click on the arrow but shows a blank box.
I think you mean the name box, you can't get rid of it, it's used for naming and selecting ranges of cells on a worksheet

Yes, I called it Name Box in original question and NO, I don't want to get rid of the box itself -----some of the contents entered earlier by me.
