I had some windows fitted today and the fitter cut through the alarm wires and set off the alarm. I don't actually need that sensor on those windows now as they are really secure. so if i tidy them up with electric tape and hide them in the window casing will the alarm still work? i can't seem to talk to an engineer at this time on a friday...
it's an old honeywell alarm if that helps!

Do you get your alarm serviced annually by the company that fitted it? If so, call them out as an emergency. We had to do this yesterday.
It depends how much you know about programming your alarm. If you do, then you need to unprogramme this circuit at the main controller. If you don't, I reckon you will have a problem with this circuit permanently showing up as being tampered with.
You could connect the tamper cicuit together and leave it. I would advise getting an engineer out and replacing the sensor, the job is nearly done anyway.

wow- this is sounding like it's totally beyond me! we only just moved in so don't know who services the alarm and didn't know there was a sensor in the kitchen window. I guess i'll just have to call someone out. this is going to be expensive I can tell.
So what's the worst that could happen if i sealed off those wires and sealed up the mess with the finish on the window (can't remember the name of it) - could an engineer tell the alarm to ignore that sensor?
