If you mean the soft drink, it's pretty harmless but loaded with sugar so will make you put on weight.  If you mean the fuel, it is smokeless but not entirely environment friendly.  If you mean the narcotic it is highly addictive and an overdose will kill you.  So whatever form you use coke in, go easy on it.

Assuming you mean the fizzy brown stuff, try dropping an old dirty copper coin into a glass of it, and then imagine what it does to your teeth. Then read this, about the main additive E220

'E220 Sulphur dioxide derived from coal tar; all sulphur drugs are toxic and restricted in use (in USA, FDA prohibits their use on raw fruits and vegetables), produced by combustion of sulphur or gypsum; known to provoke asthma attacks and difficult to metabolize for those with impaired kidney function, also destroys vitamin B1; typical products are beer, soft drinks, dried fruit, juices, cordials, wine, vinegar, potato products.'

And people give this stuff to their kids?

It is full of sugar OR sweetener (god only knows what that does to you long term), caffeine, colouring and additives. I have also read that it can cause bones to crumble... Why on earth would you want to put that in your body? Your body craves water. And perhaps fruit juice! Don't give it anything processed and nasty!
Everything is bad for you, if you go to extremes, even so called health food.
So long as you vary your diet, it''l do you no harm.
