I have a simple recipe for a beef in wine dish you're welcome to have. I would assume you might just drop the dumplings in at the last minute to heat them through.
Coat the inside of a fairly large casserole dish with butter or marg.
Some braising steak (or similar) either cubed or not it's youre chioce.
2 Knorr French Onion Soup sachets - it's important that it is these for the texture.
Bottle or 2 of red wine (your choice but I prefer Torla Rioja from Tescos around 4 a bottle)
In the casserole dish sprinkle the contents of a soup sachet over the bottom.
Drop in the meat and cover with the other sachet.
Totally cover with red wine and drop on the lid.
In the oven around 180 degrees for about 3 hours until the meat is tender stirring a couple of times during cooking.
Have a glass or 2 of wine whilst it's cooking too!
Chicken legs or thighs ..chopped onion,
garlic ,celery ,pearl barley (not a lot)..
chicken stock to cover it ,put in to a
casserole dish , lid on , cook for 1hour ...
if too thin add cornflour ..pop in the dumplings..
lid on for 10 mins ..then lid off to make them crunchy ...when they are brown it's done ..
but I have never used frozen dumplings !!
So I hope this works for you !!!
You could also bake them in the oven until brown and serve with braising steak and onion, mash, and a couple of other veg. then they would be known Hob Nobs. Lovely.
