Inland varies doesn't it. As a postie I know some get theirs early, others early afternoon, and that is maybe with the same postman.

As a general rule, what gets delivered to the sorting office by delivery time (9.30 in our office with local missorts) goes out that day.

oh sorry, i meant if i sent it on the monday, would it get there the tuesday... thanks
Duh!

Yes and no. As you probably know, as a result of cutbacks etc, there are more cut off times in collection of the mail. If you posted something early in the day, the chances are yes, but at some boxes, the last collection is actually the morning one, so in practice, something posted after it has been collected can sit there till the next collection.

Also. the journey has got to add something, so there is probably an earlier cut off time to get what mail there is across so you can have a normal delivery, in which case anything that arrived after would miss it.

thankyou postdog:)
generally speaking if I post something to my mum on the IOW she gets it the next day with no problem at all.
My wife was supposed to get a bouqet from the IOW today but it never arrived, and that was by Inter***** , so you can`t rely on it.
