Morning,

I was wondering if anyone knew whether my sun tan lotion could be causing prickly heat?

I've recently come back from Spain and whilst I was there I got prickly heat on my second day and ohhhh, it was horrible....

I know that its caused by your skin sweating more than normal and not being able to 'breath'..... so I wondered if anyone could recommend a suntan lotion that may help?

Many thanks....Spcl xx

Very doubtful your suntan lotion is to blame - it happens when the top layer of the skin swells due to excessive heat. This swelling stops the sweat glands working properly, causing the rash.

Try antihistamines and staying in the shade.
I know its something to do with it being il based but cant remember if its a non oil based one you need or oil based
aha just looked it up try not to use an oil base suncream.
my sister and friend get prickly heat if they dont use an oil free suntan lotion. They use piz buin oil free and are happy with that.
I get that really bad too - it drives you insane! I think there is a suntan lotion done by Clarins and it works really well. Its nearly 20 though but well worth it - pharmacist in Boots recommended it to me.
I suddenly started with a form of prickly heat about 10 years ago and it turned out all I had to do was avoid oils, creams and lotions!! I use a suntan gel and haven't had any problems since.
