I work in an emergency call centre, run 24hrs non stop. Its full of computers thats are never turned off, each desk has three monitors, and all the desks are very close together. The room rarley gets cleaned properly. There is a sick ammount of dusk behind under the desks where the computers are, and even behind the monitors. Its appauling really. If i ever get warm im even reluctant to turn a fan on, as they too are covered in filth and dust, so turning them on only blows it all around you making things worse still.

Could it be all this dust contributed to my eye problems? However, no one else seems to be affected as much as i am. Some people complain about dryness, itchiness and red eyes, but my symptoms seem different. I have noticed that sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes, when i leave the room, my eyes feel slightly better. And they dont have a tendancy to flare up as much as at home.

Im still going to see another dr at a different hospital though for a second opinion, i just wondered what you guys think?

every 15 or 20 minutes take your eyes of the monitor and stare to the end of the room or as far away as your eyes can see.
I have the same job as you but with 4 screens. We don't really get breaks and my eyes get really dry, itchy and tired. Not sure what is wrong with your eyes but I'm sure staring at the screens doesn't help. Try some eye excercises, you'll find them on the t'internet.
As for the hygeine, I'd definatly raise it with your bosses, noone should have to work in that environment. It may even be a dust allergy.

Good luck.
I used to work in a very dusty environment and always suffered from blepharitis, which causes itchy eyes and inflammation. I had an allergy test and found I was allergic to dust. Since changing jobs I have been fine. I think it's most likely the dust that is causing your eye problem.
Has your office got air conditioning? This can also make your eyes feel dry and itchy.

I suffer from dry eyes and use artificial tears, available from chemist and opticians. I find they really help.

Hope you feel better soon.
i suffer with alot of eye problems because im alergic to soo many things! i use opticrom eye drops whihc you can but from any pharmacy. im alergic to all animas and fur and dust and im asthmatic! and i love animals which dont help! lol
