My *vintage* (lol) Teledyne Acoustic Research speakers (Model AR18), purchased some 30 years ago, have finally given up living - one seriously needs reconing and the other doesn't want to wake up at all...

I therefore need replacement speakers - to be wall mounted (I've got the special brackets) and will be linking into Nad, Denon and Cambridge Audio separates. I like folk, alt country, blues and rock music, with a bit of classical (Mr Brahms of course!) thrown in. Can anyone suggest a good make to go for or do I have to do my own research ??

must be losing my mind. didn't you recently posted you bought
new speakers and were asking how to rid of your antique ones? maybe it's someone else.

Thanks randyraven.. I shall have a peek at the Bose ones.

Cado - I did ask a Q recently about getting rid of some of my other *antique* hi-fi separates (amp, deck etc) and one kind AB user mentioned Freecycle - I advertised them on there and they were snapped up that evening (they were still working) but at that time I hadn't realised just how bad my speakers were. I only discovered the cone problem this evening. Don't worry, you're not cracking up - it's just that I am now asking about my speakers, not the rest of the gear !
Also check out BW speakers.
Bose are nice, and expensive. Bang and Olufsen are also good. i have those.
