Lately I am having problems with internet explorer. I have the very latest version. Sometimes, when I have turned my pc on and am connected to the internet, the page opens with internet explorer cannot find this page. I can only get it to work when i do a system restore. I have not downloaded any programs lately and am perplexed to what has happened. Can any one offer any advice?

Try a little experiment for me. Download either of these free, safe browsers:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

http://www.avantbrowser.com/

Do you have the same problem?

More information is needed - OS? XP, Vista or something else?
What firewall are you using?
What AV are you using?
What version of IE is it?

If it is IE7 that you have downloaded, I want you to uninstall it. It is imperative that the instructions are followed EXACTLY when installing this program. You need to close down EVERY other program, including your firewall to install it successfully.
or for another browser and my personal fav
http://www.opera.com

if on a router could be dhcp hasn't sorted it's self out yet
A new browser is a bit of a drastic resort. Have you made sure that your homepage hasn't been set to something different from what it should be? Some dodgy websites automatically do this.
Nothing drastic about downloading a new browser - it doesn't replace the existing browser, doesn't take up much hard space and can be removed.
Check that the default open page has not changed. Open the page you want has your default page and copy and paste the address into the preferences.

Not drastic. If something doesn't work you get another one. Explorer is the worst browser out there.

Hi all. It was a virus. It ended up shutting down and restarting my PC completely. I had to completley restore my PC. Luckily I recently saved all my important stuff and made master CDs
Glad it's all sorted. :)
