I tried this system as recommended by some chefs on TV, but when I opened the dishwasher at end of cooking the salmon was gone. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Didn't leave the cat in there as well did you?

No I was breastfeeding the cat at the same time.
I did hear a loud splashing sound just after the rinse cycle however.
Ahhh well there's your answer then- the salmon revived and made a bid for freedom out of the wastepipe. He's currently swimming happily on his way to the North Sea.

Meredith. what a great idea. I once needed some advice on cooking swan that I thought I had bought as a Turkey!

I really studk my neck out to get it in the oven too.

I could have steamed it in the dishwasher all along.

Have you ever tried puffin? bad for your lungs apparently.

laughing at your post loudly.

Free William!! Swim Free! Maybe he'll swim backupstream to die in my kitchen, I've left the dishwasher open just in case :)

Maybe it went off with the "fairy" from the dishwashing tablets!
Or did you use some of those *Vanish* tabs again ?
I've seen where you fill the sink up with hot water and leave your whole salmon wrapped in foil to poach & it works but a dishwasher - I think it probably went to fish heaven, on somebody elses plate!
Thanks for the giggle provided by the other posts!!!!!!!!
Never heard of that in my life, but now I think I will have to try it!

:o)
rofl @ bohne too- willing to try it even though there's a danger of said fishy going missing ;-)
All joking aside a whole salmon can be safely cooked in a dishwasher but the salmon must be very tightly wrapped in tinfoil. If you Google salmon cooked in a dishwasher you will find advice on how to cook it successfully I havent cooked one myself but know of people who have. Reminds me of my Mothers story of how as a very new bride she put her christmas pud in the wash boiler fully immersed and it came out a soggy mess.
Question Author
Yes, wrap the tinfoil real tight.
You don't want Bohneless salmon fillets.
