Two news articles below.

In one a man got a speeding ticket, but changed the number plate and other items on the back of his car to try avoid paying the fine.

In the other an uninsured driver with no license ran over and killed a 4 year old boy, then walked away from the scene. He asked another person to take the rap.

Only one was sent to prison. Guess which one.

The first one was sentenced to 80 days in prison.

The second one served 8 months in prison.

Not enough, I agree - but he did go to prison
Both drivers went to prison for attempting to pervert the course of justice, so the examples show the law working consistently.

Tragic what happened to the child, but a 4 and 5 year old should not be crossing any roads on their own.

The death driver should have been given harsher treatment on the other charges.
He did 8 months for attempting to pervert the course of justice; he got off virtually scott free for killing a 4 year old child. When are the people in power going to stop this sort of injustice happening, its outrageous. If it were my child he had killed he would be suffering now.
Would you let a 4 year old play out in the street?
