If your next door neighbour builds a wall, should the boundary be on their side of the wall or be shared half & half split on either side?

Their intentions should be conveyed to you 1 month before building a party wall. This is the regulations:

Thanks sp1214 that helps somewhat. He only told us last Sunday not a month ago. My husband said ok.

It does say if agreed the wall should be built half on each side. If not agreed he should build it on his own side.

He has just started the foundations and has quite a lot of large boulders he is obviously going to use to build a dry stone wall. They are quite thick and he has encrouched on our side with the foundations. But if agreed it says half each side.
I had similar problem when a neighbour bagan building beyond the laid down line set out in the deeds.I asked him to adjst it to the original fence line and to his cedit he did so. Ironically his son ended buying the property from me!
