My son is in the armed forces and will be away for 6 months. He has asked me to sell his car while he is away and has left all the documentation with me.
Do I need anything else, ie. written authority, notification by/to the dvla, etc? that legally empower me to sell his car for him?
His address on the registration cert is our home address, we have proof of birth cert,etc..... but I thought there may just be something I have overlooked.
Thanks in advance.

no, you only need the logbook. That is proof that its your car. Also if you read the logbook thoroughly it'll say the legal registered keeper may not be the legal owner of the car so you're o.k to sell it. Just make sure you send the v5 off as the seller is now liable for new keepers .
