I am trying to sort out a Mr Bumble costume for the school production of Oliver. I need a blue overcoat with a cape (think Harry Secombe in the movie version) which will fit a 10 year old. I thought of adapting a dressing gown but can't find one which is suitable. Oh, and I have almost no budget to play with!!

Any ideas gratefully received.

Does another pupil not have a dressing gown you could borrow and perhaps then stitch tack on a cut down old blue curtain (does it have to be blue?). That way the curtain can be ditched when you are finished and the pupil can have their dressing gown back! ... "Its a fine life"

In a Pickle, I've read many posts by yourself, and had no idea you were a star! Thanks for the message, I'll let you know how they get on - it's our school's first ever production from the new Drama group, and I have to say, the kids are having a fine old time rehearsing and preparing.
