It does annoy me, like in Corrie a moment ago, when they onit the word obey. Women should obey men. Is it so wrong?

I don't really think it should be in the vows as I'd hate to make a promise I couldn't keep.
I didn;'t think they used the Obey bit in a civil ceremony cos it is only in the Church one isn't it? I am sure they never said obey
Im sure I did the first time round -I was young-but didnt obey.
I didnt the second time -registrars.

Sooo dated -but you do have the option to have it omitted nowadays -unlucky Wardy -lol
I got married in a church and didnt have "obey " in our vows
I certainly wouldnt want to marry a man who thought i should obey him, not the best start to married life is it?
Nope, i certainly wouldn't obey any man.
We had the "obey" in our marriage vows, simply because it was a traditional one - but I doubt anyone takes them literally these days. Obey sounds like an order anyway. I do what my husband asks of me - if I think it's right, and vice versa. We don't deliberately go against each other to cause any upset. I often do things MY way, because that's me - but my other half agree with me, so all's well.
