Sending Valentine Messages

I wasn't using this site last Febuary so I don't know how it is all organised.

How are Valentine messages sent?

If they are sent via the private message service, it will not work if that person is not already a friend.

If they are sent as a question such as "Will you be my Valentine", which category are you supposed to use.

Also how do you send them anonymously, the little tag at the end saying ruby27 would be a bit of a give away.
