When did the law change that says a licenced premises must have a SIA doorman on duty during opening hours.?

Also if a licence is issued to sell alcohol from a venue/premises. Do they need a different licence if they are hiring a room out for commercial gain and selling alcohol?

And do the they have to have a personel licence as well as the premise/venue licence.

The premises in/from which the alcohol is sold cannot have a Personal License. The person in charge who authorises the sale must have a Personal Licence.

Your local authority Licensing Dept. is now responsible for administering the law and will answer all your queries.
I only ever see bouncers in discos or town centre late night bars, never during normal hours in your common all garden pub.

Are you sure this is law?
Phone you council and ask to speak the the licensing officer. When I was in the trade, which was a few years ago, they could impose a condition on the license that you had to have licensed doorstaff on duty during certain times. In hotspots it could be all day, where amamber of staff who had the qualification could work behind the bar too.
The law does not require doorman in licensed premises. It may be imposed as a condition on the particualr premises licence by the Council if it is felt, following consultation, representation and hearing, to be necessary. If doormen are required in these circumstances, they must be licensed by the SIA.

If a room in the pub is licensed and alcohol is sold there, there is no problem. If the room is not included on the premises licence plan, it must have another authorisation, such as a temporary event notice, to legalise the sales.

Thanks to all for the answers. I called the Local Licencing authority and the answers given are correct..

In relation to doormen. they only have to have a doorman if it is in the lIcencing conditions.
