I believe the setter has got a answr/ clue wrong in the prize crossword. 23d in King lear the illegitimate son of Gloucester was Edmund or Edmund not Edgar as is apparently the answer here. Any thoughts on this from you out there?

Hi - yeah, there have been a couple of discussions about this today and the conclusion is that it's wrong - as Edgar is the other "legitimate" son and it fits everyone is putting that. I did and sent it off!! Good luck x

Yes so we agree on this. Thanks
concur. setter made mistake...should have asked for legitimate son
Agree with you.

And what about 29d? My reference books make the answer the third and not the fourth period.
Edgar is Gloucester's legitimate heir - its one of the crucial points of the story and a really unforgiveable error - not the first in the past few weeks
I agree with you Jezrogers. It is unforgivable but understandable as he is doing all the crosswords etc on the puzzlepage and it is probably too much for him. I notice his email address has been withdrawn.
