Why is it that whenever I try to draw a shape in Microsoft Word that stupid 'drawing canvass' appears and makes it so that I can position my drawing without loads of messing about and fiddling???????!!!!!!!

I'm trying to make a flow chart and it's a nightmare!

Try "Diagram Designer": http://www.meesoft.com/ which you can export as a jpeg and then insert into Word. It's a free dl, but so easy to use I actually sent them some money!

Hi Sproutstick

This is just another Microsoft so-called 'improvement' - at every upgrade there are more irritating automatic functions to disable!

In this case just go to Tools, Options..., General and uncheck the 'Automatically create drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes' box.
