It has just been announced that they are to be put under further pressure by examining Madelines cuddly toy.

How would you feel if you are under constant suspicion and threats knowing that you are innocent of her abduction? Would you let the smears brush over you? Would it affect your health? Do you have any sympathy for their predicament?

wy are they examining it 8 months later? its it a bit late for any crucial evidence to be still there?? Im sure its had a fair few washes since and been played with by maddys brother and sister....
depends on if your guilty or innocent really. if they are innocent it must b everyones worst nightmare...

if they are guilty.....you would b thinking 'when are they going to give up suspecting us'

personally, ive no idea what the final outcome with be....
So you're assuming they are innocent.
Hey Lucy ~ where have you been?
it is difficult to know whether they are guilty or innocent - especially in light of how the portuguese police carry out their investigations.

from what i've seen and heard - there are un-usual aspects on both sides of the case, and one wonders if our police would have take so long.

i remain open minded but can think of many questions that need answering
I have a lot of sympathy for them. I believe they are innocent. I am sure the portugese police have no evidence, that they messed up the investigation from the very beginning, and are now reluctant to admit that the parents are innocent. All this secrecy on the part of the police is a very convenient tool that they can use to cover up their own inadequacies. We have been hearing stories about them being on the verge of coming over here to question the people involved for months now. Where is all this coming from? They have already examined the cuddle cat. It is a physical comfort to Kate, and they should not take it from her. They have already photocopied the original diary, so why do they want the original? Are they looking for Madeleine. alive or dead? I think not. They are useless. And I also believe that they are responsible for the smear campaign that started in Portugal. I have no doubt that if the McCanns were portugese, a confession would have been beaten out of Kate months ago. They should take this case to the European Courts.
Would they take a lie detector test?

i wonder.

guilty of neglect.

and who knows what else.
I don't think they're guilty either, and I fail to see what benefit could be derived from either "Cuddle Cat" as any forensics would have been long since destroyed (evidentially at least) because of contamination and what's the diary going to tell them?
2030 meet so and so for dinner.
2100 killed my baby.
2200 had dessert.
I don't want to sound flippant but it's all nonsense.
As for the Portugeuse Police they conducted the investigation in the manner befitting their jurisdiction. It may well have been inept (by our standards?) but it's how they do things over there. If you don't like the way a country administers it's laws, don't go there.
Our Police are by no means perfect either, Steven Lawrence anyone, sadly I doubt we'll ever find out what happened I also doubt if our Police would have fared any better.
Is a lie detector test 100% accurate? Is it admissable in court? If they took the test and passed it, would the police then leave them alone.
Yes they did the wrong thing in leaving the children alone. But neglect is not murder! They made a big mistake, which they are paying for now. I feel nothing but compassion for them.
If they are innocent I have every sympathy, however at the same time (and this isn't said flippantly) I would want every lead to be followed up to get to the truth.

If they are guilty I have no sympathy.

So you're assuming they are innocent.

What are you presuming Lucy that they are guilty unless they prove otherwise?
I too would have no sympathy for them if theyare guilty. I am just going on my gut instinct, and of course all most of us have to go on is what we have seen and heard in the press. If they are guilty, then I would be devastated, because they would have completely taken me and a lot of other people in. The world would not be a big enough place for them to hide in. I have thought about this a lot though, and admit to thinking that if she is dead, I would much rather THEY had done it than some sick pervert. God Bless Her.
In todays news there was another independent witness of suspicious behaviour around the apartment. Once again this was reported to the police but was not followed up. Why not? My own theory is that the police in Portugal do not want the world to know that Portugal has an opennhouse attitude towards paedophiles. They have no sex offenders register. They have no idea how many paedophiles were in and around that town in May. I think it is about time that the European Law courts made it mandatory for all European countries to keep tabs on these predators.
But neglect is not murder!

So you think maddys still alive?
