I have a two year old female staffiie and will be taking her to Leicester to spend Christmas with my family, the only problem is that they have a 5 year old male King Charles cross who apparently tries to hump everything!

How can i introduce the dogs to each other to hopefully avoid a fight and spend three days in peace - hopefully. Lil is normally very calm in my house and gets on well with my other dog - 15year old collie.

What are the chances of her chewing in a new environment - she's not spent any time away from home yet.

Hi there, if you can, introduce the dogs on neutral ground, in a local park or even up the road a bit from where your family lives, as the male is quite dominant then let your bitch sniff him first, I don't mean nose to nose either, get the person holding the dog to have him on a short lead and turn him so that his backside is near your dogs nose, let her sniff him, then let him sniff her the same way, after this take them for a little walk together then back to the house, I would make him wait until your dogs enter first, remember this is his home, I wouldn't leave them alone over night unless they have shown absolutely no signs whatsoever of aggression towards each other.
Good luck and hope you have a peaceful Christmas.
They might get on too well lol !
Lil might end up pregnant !

Thanks, we do have a cage for Lil just in case there is any aggression between the two. I really don't want to have to use it as she doesn't go in her cage at home. I put it up in the day when we leave for walk but thats about it.

She will be going to two different houses, the second is the other dogs home which she will be going to xmas night. They will have had an evening together by then.

She'd best not get preggers this is one ugly cross bred mutt that she'll be with. She's the most gorgeous staff ever - i know i'm biased but she is beautiful.

Merry Christmas!

Agree with Illyria, introduce them on neutral ground, but be prepared to use the cage in the house.. If they have had a walk she should be happy to go in there for a while to rest. Don't use it as punishment, more as a safe haven where she won't be pestered by his amorous advances.
I would certainly use the cage, it will give you complete peace of mind, especially at night, she may be glad of it to get away from any amorous intentions by the dog! especially as he is such a nuisance in that respect, and it is only for a couple of nights, if you give her treats in there she won't see it as a punishment.

Thanks very much it has taken too long to get her out of the cage to use it as a punishment against her.

She's still a bit of a shredder occasionally and seems to be aware of the fact that shredded paper makes more mess than shoes do - not that i'm complaining!

thanks and merry christmas
