Hello, I am intending to buy a Christmas card over an internet site. I set up my card etc and then continued on to the next page for our address to be sent to and so on, and the lock on the bottom of the page was together, I then went on to the next page to fill in my bank details and so on, and then the lock split, is this alright? I am unsure whether the site is secure with lock split, so I did not fill in the details.
Any help with this you could give would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,
the way to tell if a site IS secure is to look at the address bar. it should begin with https://www.etc. If it doesn't the site isn't using a secure server and you should avoid putting your bank details on such a site.
well that split lock thing looks suspicious to me... pug100 is right, the address should start with https, the address bar should be yellow for secure websites and make sure the address is the same and you're not being redirected to some malicious website.
