Maldives and......?

Going back to the Maldives next September but would like to combine it with another destination. I have three weeks to take and was thinking 10 days maldives and 10 days somewhere else. Any sugestions?
We like nice beaches, snorkelling, wildlife, mixing with locals. Thanks

Kenya or Tanzania perhaps? Both are good for wildlife, less so for mixing with locals. Thailand, India or Mauritius are better for locals, worse for animals. Sri Lanka has a bit of everything but there's a civil war in the north.

Sri Lanka is the obvious place to combine with the Maldives as they are close but very different. Most major tour companies combine these two places.

Sri Lanka is a lovely place, lovely people - good sightseeing & you can go on safari game drives there.in the national park at Yala.
