my passport runs out november 08, I presume the end of november,i want to take a later holiday to spain october middle,is does anyone no if this passport would still be acceptable as its nearing its end.

Yes it would be acceptable in the EEC - but why not renew it. If you renew before the expiry date they add these extra weeks/months to your new passport.

For example my last passport was due to expire in Feb 07. I renewed it in November 06 and instead of it just being a straight 10 years - ie Nov 2016 - they added extra and it expires in March 2017.

But renew it in plenty of time so there is no panic.

JK2 is right - you can renew it any time, but if you renew within 9 months of the expiration date they will add the remaining months to your new passport.

Sorry In a Pickle you are not correct that it is exactly 10 years from date of issue - that is only the case with a new passport. A renewed passport length depends on when you renew it. My current passport - as I said - was issued Nov 06 but expires in March 2017 - 10 years and 4 months later because I renewed 4 months before my previous one expired,

Yes JK2 - but the main issue inapickle was trying to address was WHEN in March the passport expires - is the <day> in March specified, or does it just say March? The extra months are a side issue - valid, but not the point.

Generalising from a sample of one - ie looking at mine - I think the date is specified - it was issued on 5 November 2005, but with 4 months added expires on 5 March 2015.
