Silly question, but if you have to provide a phone number when entering quizzes which you subsequently win, does anyone know whether, if you either do not answer or an answerphone picks up, the awarding body either tries again or leaves a message? (Sorry this is a bit long-winded, but I'm sure you get the gist.)

Phone numbers are usually just requested for data capture reasons.
When I do the MOS prize quiz I put my initial & surname & no title. A couple of years ago I received a phone call asking for MR Overall. At that time me & Mr O had had a row and he'd gone to his mum's for a couple of days. I thought it was one of his mates phoning so I said he didn't live here anymore. The caller said "OK, sorry to bother you" and hung up. Much later I did a 1471 and found the call had come from Thetford, which is where the MOS xword is drawn. I'm convinced I won the 1500 but due to my own stupidity I lost it.

Thanks for your replies. Mrs. Overall - that confirms my suspicions that if you're not there when they call, you could lose out! Mmmmm - not good news!
