Hi all.
I have recently inherited my great grandfathers medals from the first world war and am looking at having them mounted in a display case. I have 1 complete medal, however the other 2 are just the ribbons with no medal. I have identified which ones they are but have been told by the MoD that they will not issue replicas which originate prior to world war 2. Is there any way I can purchase replicas from a private company ?
Thank you
Alb.

probably you can, which medals do you need? There were different ones depending on the service history, my grandad had 3 medals, one was for serving in France I recall, you should be able to find your G grandfather's service number at the time he was awarded the medals as I believe it is engraved around the rim of the medal.
Try ebay, they have a militaria catagory,
if not, try these people

I got my campaign and miniture mess dress medals mounted by them so they may be able to help.
Good luck
