I am getting a lot of humming from my speakers, the only way I can stop it is to mute the line in on the sounds & audio on the control panel. Can anyone advise how to lose the hum so that I can use the line in successfully?TIA, Ron.

Hi,
Have you checked if there is anyhing plugged into your line in jack on the back of the pc?
You only need to use line in to record analogue audio onto the pc, if you don't use it for anything just leave it muted.

Thanks pug 100,yes you'r right, I have a jack plugged in from a previous analogue LP, but totally disconnected from the Hi-Fi unit. It obviously makes a difference leaving it connected to the line in,although disconnected at the other end.Is it something to do with feedback from the cable?Ron.
Hi Ron,
Yes the unplugged cable is probably picking up hum from the surrounding mains cables feeding the monitor, pc, and anything else mains powered you have nearby.

pug, Can I get a screened cable or don't you think it's neccessary( I cant remember whether my previous recording transfers were affected by the interferance)Ron.
