I have solved the theme and worked out the augmented words but cannot work out what they are looking for with the reduced words. Any advice would be welcome

Thankyou MLN, managed to finish it tonight, and yes, I did get the number wrong. I do wonder how many people actually enter these, The prize is pretty stingy compared with the effort needed to complete it, but it is the challenge and entertainment value that spurs us on.
